Christian Tschida
Known as "enfant terrible" of Austrian winemaking, but also as winner of the “Winemaker of the year” by Gault & Millau 2016.
If we agree on the fact that great wines are characterized mainly by harmony, balance and complexity, then Christian Tschida undoubtedly makes wines that stand out in the wine world. Regardless of the fact that he is constantly sold out and has a very strong aura of success, we dare to say that you can pour any of his wine into a glass of a connoisseur or a complete wine amateur, and both will be thrilled. Interesting are also Tschida's claims like "the terroir is overrated" or "I don't go to the vineyard much, not to disturb the vine". In his production, he follows the rule of interfering with natural processes as little as possible and giving wine all the time it needs. His vineyards are very old (average age of vines is 40+ years) located in the national park at Lake Neusiedl. Wines are aged in wooden barrels of 225-1500 liters, are not clarified or filtered. Nothing added, nothing taken away. Producer beloved by many sommeliers and natural wine aficionados around the globe.
