Tomáš Trejbal - Cuvée DaDa 2021
Mělník | orange, dry |
Very unusual cuvée, aka BP+Pa = DaDa
You wouldn't expect Pálava at Mělník, but here it is, and after a year of maturation in a stainless steel tank it was blended with the rosé Blauer Portugieser. Portugieser grapes are also frost-reduced in the vineyard, so the concentration is immense. The result is avant-garde, unconventional and yet very fine and drinkable.

Tomáš is a real son of Mělník region, his family settled here several generations ago. You can meet his ancestors also on expressive labels of his wine. He started as an importer of wines many years ago and was influenced by few natural winemakers. His wines get better every vintage and the winery shows a lot of potential. Maceration on skins, aging in barrels or amphorae are typical traits of his playful production. All this happens on marl soil called opuka, typical for Mělník region north and northwest from Prague. It gives great saltiness to his wines! Tomáš works with Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Kerner, Dornfelder, Blauer Portugieser and Hibernal. Gotta try!
