Ota Ševčík - Pinot Noir 2023
Bořetice | red, dry |
Another of Ota's feats that could easily be mistakenly classified as originating in France in a blind tasting.
The wine was aged for a year in oak barrels. The result is outstanding: a classic Pinot Noir of Burgundian style, delicate, fruity, slightly mineral, full-bodied and smooth.

Ota Ševčík is a producer of very harmonic and precise wines aged in acacia and oak barrels. This modest perfectionist has winemaking in his blood - as a child he helped his parents in the vineyard and in 1992 he bottled his first wine. Since then, the quality of his red, white and orange wines has been at the top of the Czech Republic production. Ota is a proud son of South Moravia region and presents the terroir of his wines through varieties Riesling, Chardonnay, Hibernal, Neuburger, Sauvignon Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, Frankovka, Pinot Noir and Saint Laurent. His annual production is around 13,000 bottles, and each of them proves that the soul of good wine is in the vineyard. His vineyards are organic certified, and located in the village Bořetice. No artificial yeast, no clarification, no filtration. Instead of unnecessary additives, Ota adds a bit of his character to the wine: a combination of humility and rebellion.
