Château Falfas - Château Falfas 2017
Bordeaux | red, dry |
An elegant and fresh Bordeaux with notes of black fruit, soft tannins, and a subtle spicy finish.
Château Falfas spends 11 to 14 months in French oak barrels (30% new), adding gentle complexity without weighing the wine down. You’ll find aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, a hint of cocoa and licorice. On the palate, it’s light-bodied, bright, and finely balanced. Perfect for those who prefer a drinkable, elegant Bordeaux without the heaviness.
Château Falfas is located on the right bank of the Gironde in Bayon and has been known as the “glory of Bourgeais” since the 14th century. Véronique’s family farms 20 hectares here, mostly planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec. Since 1989, the estate has been fully biodynamic – a heartfelt commitment for Véronique, whose father François Bouchet was one of France’s pioneers of biodynamic viticulture. Château Falfas is a founding member of Biodyvin, the biodynamic growers’ union. The wines are made using traditional methods, with no chemical inputs and long aging in oak barrels.
