Mesta - Tempranillo Tinto 2023

This wine was the reason we started importing wines from Península Vinicultores! Marko tasted it some time ago at a top-notch restaurant right in Spain, and it was love at first sip. The Mesta Tempranillo has an amazing quality - it's incredibly balanced and you can't get enough of it. You have to keep taking sips over and over again. Red fruits, a subtle spiciness, medium-bodied and refreshing - those are the main characteristics of this delightful Tempranillo.

A group from the Pyrenean Peninsula made up of growers, winemakers, and Masters of Wine, who all share a vision for authentic and sustainable winemaking in Spain. Most of their wines come from Castilla, which is in central Spain, but they’re sourced from vineyards situated at high altitudes on limestone and sandy clay soils, and they follow organic farming practices. What matters most to them is the character and purity of their wines, and they place a strong emphasis on the ecological aspect of their work.
Years ago, they were founding members of the “Wineries for Climate Protection” association, which aims to focus on renewable resources and reduce energy and water consumption, waste production, and CO2 emissions. One of the main faces of the Peninsula, Sam Harrop MW, co-authored the book “Authentic Wine” with wine expert Jamie Goode, which still serves as an introduction to the world of chemical-free wines for many organic and natural winemakers today.
